PRE-SELECTION ROUND
1. During the registration, applicant must upload a valid YouTube video link(s) for the pre-selection round, where one performs two pieces (no. 1.1 & 1.2) from the list provided below. Candidates may record videos in which they perform these two pieces separately, at different time and in different locations, but each piece must be recorded in its entirety, providing coherency without any editing or cutting, which is strictly prohibited. Videos made more than one year ago may not be submitted for the pre-selection round, i.e. the pieces must be recorded after 1 January, 2024 (calculated from the closing date of the registration).
1.1 W. A. Mozart | First movement with a cadenza from any of these Violin Concertos:
• Violin Concerto No. 1 · in B-flat major · KV 207 (Allegro moderato);
• Violin Concerto No. 2 · in D major · KV 211 (Allegro moderato);
• Violin Concerto No. 3 · in G major · KV 216 (Allegro);
• Violin Concerto No. 4 · in D major · KV 218 (Allegro);
• Violin Concerto No. 5 · in A major · KV 219 (Allegro).
1.2 N. Paganini | One selected caprice from "24 Caprices for Solo Violin" · Op. 1.
COMPETITION PROGRAM
All works must be performed by HEART (except compulsory piece "With a Birdsong" by Algirdas Martinaitis).
1st ROUND
1. J. S. Bach | III and IV movements from any of the violin sonatas listed below (movements with repeats must be performed only with the first repeats):
Violin Sonata No. 1 · in G minor · BWV 1001 (Siciliana, Presto);
Violin Sonata No. 2 · in A minor · BWV 1003 (Andante, Allegro);
Violin Sonata No. 3 · in C major · BWV 1005 (Largo, Allegro assai).
2. N. Paganini | One selected caprice from "24 Caprices for Solo Violin" · Op. 1. (The same one, which was played at the from the pre-selection round, can be repeated.)
3. Compulsory piece commissioned for this competition, which was written by Lithuanian composer - "With a Birdsong" by Algirdas Martinaitis (this piece can be performed from the sheet notes). After registration, when the fee is paid, participants will be provided with a special code which lets to access sheet music free of charge. Please adress this question via e-mail: info@ipmc.lt
