Wakana Kimura was born in Takarazuka, Japan, and started playing the violin at the age of four. When she was 16, she received further training from prof. Mauro Iurato in Italy. She also took part in the International Academy Forum Musikae in Madrid (2018, 2019), at the Mozarteum International Summer Academy (2018), and at the International Music Academy Orpheus (2017, 2019). Since 2021, she has been studying violin with prof. Lothar Strauß, and chamber music with prof. Stefan Mendl at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
History of the participation in competitions: All-Japan Student Music Competition, high school students of Osaka division, 3rd place (2018); Antonio Vivaldi International Competition, 2nd place (2019); Central International Music Academy in Vienna, finalist and recipient of the CIMA Thomann Prize (2019); 41st International Violin Competition “Premio Rodolfo Lipizer”, 2nd place (2022); 14th Carl Flesch Violin Competition, finalist & special prize winner; 57th International Violin Competition “Premio Paganini”, finalist (2023); I. Grunewald International Music Competition, 2nd place (2024); Violin Competition BCN “Victoria”, 1st place (2024); 8th Leonid Kogan International Competition, 1st place (2024); George Enescu International Competition, 3rd place (2024). As a soloist she has performed with orchestras in Austria, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, Romania, and other European countries, and has given many solo recitals in Europe and Japan.
